With a family history in textiles dating back some four centuries, Tapi Carpets & Floors founder Martin Harris has built the business upon the strongest of foundations.
Founded in 2015, the Kent-headquartered business can trace its roots back to the 1600s, when Harris’ forebears manufactured denim sails for ships before the arrival of steam power forced a pivot into the creation of tents, followed by blinds, and thereafter, the flooring textiles the company is now known for.
Tapi represents the latest iteration of the Harris family’s flooring business, following brands like Harris Carpets, Ross Carpets, and Carpetright, among others, which were founded and sold on by Martin’s father, The Right Honourable Lord Harris of Peckham.
With over 180 locations throughout the United Kingdom, Tapi has seen significant growth since its launch. Its forward-thinking, customer-centric approach has been instrumental in tackling the issues faced by retailers over the past few years – not least of which being the COVID-19 pandemic.
Driven to provide premium experiences for its customers, both in-store and with its fleet of mobile showrooms, Tapi’s attention to detail is second to none. A desire to combine that ethos with increased operational efficiency led to its adoption of Intelocate to manage daily operations for head office and frontline staff.
